Many snowboarders and skaters are jumping on the tattoo bandwagon these days, just so they have some script poking out of their v-neck tee. Chris Dufficy, on the other hand, has been in the game and doing it his way for a minute now, just like his snowboarding. Duff-man doesn't hold back, whether it's charging on the hill or, as you can see in the pics, dropping into full-body tattoos. While it might be this attitude that has kept him on the sidelines with career-threatening injuries far too often, he's always comes back on top with a positive attitude and skills like no others. (Opening part in True Life, anyone? "This Is How We Chill From ‘93 ‘till"...Classic.)
Of course, Dufficy himself acknowledges that tattoos are not for everyone: "I found out for myself when I showed my Dad the artwork I had acquired over the years on Christmas day," he laughs. "My mum knew about them the whole time, so this might have made it even harder on Dad."

But every piece of ink permanently etched onto Duff's skin has a purpose.
"All the tattoos represent a moment in my life I want to remember and cherish to a certain degree," he explains. "I found that the tattoos I've gotten, and continue to get, are an expansion of my imagination and all the hard work I've put into snowboarding and all the other things I love in my life. For example, on my ribs I have my mum's maiden name 'Takenaka' to remember my Japanese background, and beside the letters are Japanese maple leafs turning into snowflakes. Just remember that tattoos are forever, so make sure you know what you want."
With new sponsors lined up and his injuries behind him, Duff is ripping harder than ever. Let's check in and hear him sound off on his addiction to the gun.

Tell me about your skull tattoos -- as in the tattoos on your actual head. Didn't you just get some more work done there?
I got the heart done in May just for something to do, but the "Brotherhood" script has been there for a few years now.
It's no secret that tattoos look better on people that are not overweight. Is this the reason that you're so fit?
I personally think it doesn't matter as long as you go to the right artist. Example: Jon Roth! [laughs] But I guess it could work to your advantage.

How many total hours do you think you've spent under the gun over the years?
I can't even begin to think about of the amount of time I've sat for. It just makes me think about how much money I've spent as well... But I would have to say I've spent a good day or two in the chair.
With so many other riders getting intense with tattoos, do you sense people trying to one-up each other? Kind of like a good shred session?
I don't get tattoos to one up other people. It's all about personal preference and about the meaning the tattoos represent to me. I guarantee that people don't have a clue about how addicted to tattooing I was and still am!
