After Morgan Smith made Canada proud by emerging victorious at the BATB4 Final, our collective attention has shifted to Ryan Decenzo, who’s the only Canadian participating in the X Games’ second edition of Real Street. 16 top pros produced 60-second video parts for a chance to win $10,000 by racking up the most fan votes, while also taking a stab at $50,000 (and an X Games Gold) for the top panel-judged selection.

“I got an email about it from Mike Sinclair,” Ryan recalls, “and it’s a pretty sick contest that X Games is doing. They gave me like 5 or 6 months – enough notice to pull off a minute of footy. The cutoff was in May. Just tried to get some bangers and I didn’t get hurt, so that’s good. I’m pretty stoked on how it turned out.”

@decenzzzz takes on a kinked 50-50 with a drop-down kink in his Real Street part.
Last year Ryan competed in the main X Games event, pulling off a Bronze medal finish in Men’s Street. And at the 17th installment (July 28-31 in L.A.) of the big show his presence will be more widespread: “I think I might be the only skater in Real Street doing both,” he says. “I’m holdin’ it down for the streets and the park [laughs].”
After Round 1 of
Real Street’s fan voting segment, Ryan narrowly edged out
Tommy Sandoval by an 8% margin to make it into Round 2 (July 5-11). Now he finds himself up against last year’s Fan Favourite, Zered Bassett, who put together another
strong part. Stay up-to-date by
