Feels like deja-vu, right? Four years after Shaun White's first shirtless Rolling Stone magazine cover (after he won gold at the Turin Olympics), he's done it again. He's wearing his medal, and is shirtless of course, but he's one-upped the previous pic by wearing stars-and-stripes pants and setting his snowboard on fire. On the first go 'round, he just had the flag draped around his neck; this time he's apparently turned the flag into slacks.
Infamous celeb photographer Terry Richardson (known for his early work in Vice Magazine) snapped the cover shot, which should be appearing on newsstands this week. Rolling Stone writer Vanessa Grigoriadias profiles White in the issue, and the following preview (along with a video) appears on the Rolling Stone site:
"Shaun White has revolutionized snowboarding, won the big gold in Vancouver and lit his snowboard aflame, Hendrix-style, on the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone, joining an elite club of athletes to appear on our cover not once, but twice. And as the focused, business savvy White tells it, a lot of his recent success on the half-pipe and off can be attributed to a new addition to his life: "Getting into music has changed my personality and my way of doing things," he reveals to RS writer Vanessa Grigoriadis. "I"m far more open now."
In case you've been avoiding all forms of media over the past two weeks, the hype surrounding Shaun is due to him winning his second gold medal in halfpipe at the Vancouver Olympics. And in case you've forgotten what White's first Rolling Stone cover shot looked like, here's a quick trip down memory lane:

A couple of observations: 1) Shaun looks older; more like a man now and less like a kid; and 2) Rolling Stone has thankfully dropped the "Flying Tomato" moniker and cover line, opting instead for "The Killer". Wait, I thought everyone agreed to call him "The Animal" now? Way to mess it everything up, Rolling Stone.
