Andrew Geeves: Bye-Bye Bralorne
Posted On Apr 27 2011, 05:41 PM by mscott

It's funny how things come full circle in life. Maybe it's because we get second chances, or maybe it's just the choices that we make have us running into the same people again and again. Two years ago the shred industry was introduced to a young Andrew Geeves and before they could fully embrace him with interviews and piles of fan letters, he vanished into thin air. Fast-forward to today and Andrew Geeves is significant player on the Canadian DC snow team. After missing our return flight home from the first leg of the DC Ride Along Tour, I decided to sit down with Andrew and figure out what he's been up to. As I suspected, he made me laugh countless times while informing me on a few of the finer moments in his life.

Geeves and Snoop. You guess which is which.

How about we start off by letting the people out there know what you've been up to?
As it stands right now, I'm just waiting for my flight back to Vancouver, oh, and also trying to catch up on a little bit of sleep when you're not messing with me, scaring the shit out of me.

What was up with you last year? You moved out in to the middle of nowhere and just chilled?
Yeah, I moved into the woods up in Bralorne.  It went pretty well considering I ended up having one shot in the Transworld movie, a small part in the Sandbox movie, and in all honesty, I didn't film that much at all.

That's quite honest of you Andrew, you're a lucky man. So did you up learning anything from last season's mistakes?
Yeah: don't move to Bralorne if you're trying to film a video part.

Fair enough.  But wait, didn't you end up starting a Youtube series about living up there, called Bralorne Living?  What ever happened to that?
Hahahah, oh you mean when I went a little coo-coo-ca-chu? Hahaha.

Pretty much. Are you straight up admitting that you went a little crazy living up there?
Well yeah, I'm not denying it, at all. I went legitimately crazy for a few months when I was living up there ‘cause I didn't have anyone around. I thought more friends would come through because of all the sledding possibilities.

Are you sure it was because you didn't have anybody else out there with you?  Maybe it would be easier for the people reading this to understand if you painted a picture of exactly what Bralorne is during the winter months.
It's a small town outside of Whistler that is made up of about 60 people and tons of dogs. Actually, now that I think about it, there are probably more dogs than humans. Yeah, it's a good place for a dog, but not really a good place for a 21-year-old kid who likes shredding with his friends and having a good time.

What did you do to stay busy?
I just went sledding and shredding every day that I could, nothing too major.

With all the sledding being done, do you have any stories that you would like to tell us about?
Yeah... I was coming back from Whistler with my dog Snoop and I ended up blowing my engine 13km's from home, ending up walking at night with my puppy.  At one point there were six wolves on the outskirts of the railroad tracks surrounding my dog and I. Pretty hairy stuff.

Whoa! How did you fend them off? What did you do to get out of that one?
I didn't; I was just making loud noises trying to scare them off. I couldn't actually see them ‘cause it was fully dark but I ended up scaring them away, so I guess the screams were good enough to get Snoop and I out of that one.

You realize that if someone caught you walking along the train tracks at night yelling and making weird noises it might come off as a bit weird...
Hahaha, I totally would have looked like a weirdo on that one.

So now that we have established that you went fully crazy living up in Bralorne, can you tell me a little bit about how you ended up moving there in the first place?
I pretty much moved from Winnipeg to Whistler, then I took a break and moved out to Bralorne, and now I'm taking a break from there.

I don't really get it. Where exactly are you trying to end up these days?
I've moved back to Whistler for round two.

What's going to be different for you this time?

This time I have a girlfriend that I enjoy spending time with, so I definitely won't be sleeping in and partying as much as I used to.

Sounds like you had a pretty ambitious year, right?
Oh hells yeah, I'm psyched! I feel like I got a second chance and I didn't want to fuck this one up.

You realize that Chris Dufficy said the exact same thing before he had, in my personal opinion, one of the best years of his life and filmed his True Life part?
Whoa, I remember that. If my memory serves me right, that's pretty crazy right there!

Alright Andrew Geeves, what else is there to go over before we're done here?
Huh what? Oh for the interview, hmmm, hahaha, nothing I guess.

I don't really know what else to ask you. I'm stoked and I think that we're all caught up. When's the next Bralorne Livin' episode going to drop?
No new episodes just yet. Head on over to my blog to see what I've been up to. It's called "The Brown Brown Cow" and it's filled with stupid little videos, sweet party shots, pics of my dog and everything else that a great blog should have.

I'm headed there right now, thanks bud!
