The Maloof Money Cup this weekend has taken skateboarding to a whole new level, period. You can hardly argue that the level of skateboarding in this competition is not the best there has ever been. The weekend was full of surprises and at one point it looked that our boy, Ryan Decenzo could knock out the favorites Torey Pudwill and Chris Cole, but in the end it was not to be. Cole is now a three time Maloof champion and has walked home with another $100,000. Ryan finished with a respectable seventh place, which earned him a solid $4,500. Still, not bad for a weekends work.
And while it seemed the Canadians might not have had the best luck in street they definitely did in vert. The seemingly now unstoppable PLG has clinched another victory and walked away with another $75,000. PLG beat out Bob Burnquist who landed in second and Andy McDonald who received third. So now all there is to ask is what’s next for PLG? At this rate, why not Prime Minister? He’s got my vote.
Founded by the NBA's Maloof Brothers, The Maloof Money Cup (which hit NYC earlier this summer) has one of the largest cash purses in competetive skateboarding, with over $450,00 given away in events over the past three years.
Enjoy as Dutch photographer extraordinaire, Floris Gierman, shares his pictures of this past weekend’s event with us and be sure check out his site for more tasty tidbits.
