The south of CHILE has recently been getting some awesome snow-falls.  Located far south of the capital Santiago is the small town of PUCON which is situated in the Araucania Region of the country.  Known for its stunning lakes and amazing forests.  The towns main attraction though is the Villarrica Volcano.  It's on this very volcano you can snowboard and ride the lifts of the PUCON ski resort.  An amazing place to visit and for those who are really keen you can climb to the crater and look into the centre of the earth at liquid hot magma!!

Again I will say that if your in Chile, South America and passing by this area it is a must stop!  If your interested in climbing to the crater having a local guide or solid backcountry knowledge is key.  The crater is active and is not something to play around on. Full backcountry gear is needed. Beacon, Probe, Shovel, backpack, crampons and knowledge.
